Girls On Film
Four photoshoots, two girls, too little time!
Times have been busy for us since Halloween! As the nights have grown colder we've had to fight the urge to stay in and hibernate and instead get ready for some serious time in front of the camera. It kicked off when we were asked to DJ at the live SHOWstudio space at Somerset House. The shoot taking place was masterminded by Jez Tozer, who cast and shot Storm model's New Faces wearing a selection of the new season 'Anthony Price for Topman' and 'Kate Moss for Topshop' collections. All to be broadcast live online, and viewable from behind the two-way mirror at Somerset House. Phew!
We played a selection of tunes to accompany the Kate Moss for Topshop shoot, from vintage Japanese gems like 'Watashi No Boyfriend' by Hibari Misora to the trusty 'GZ and Hustlas' by Snoop Dogg. Here are the highlights of our day...
Having our make up done by the lovely Thomas K
Jez works his magic... In fact, before we got underway DJing we managed to persuade him to shoot US, and here is the result!
You can see how overjoyed we are to be in front of the lens, as well as behind it!
DJing next to the two-way mirror - it's so easy to forget you're being watched! As anyone who saw us dancing on the live web-stream can testify to. Thank God we'll never be on Big Brother!
Anthony Price for Topman gets underway with dead pheasants a-plenty...
Kate Moss for Topshop (we even spotted the model trying not to dance to our tunes at one point!)
We were pretty ruddy excited (not to mention surprised and flattered) when we received a personal letter from legendary photographer Ellen von Unwerth asking us to be in her new book, Fräulein: “a book in the honour of gorgeous woman with great personalities” according to Ellen!
Unfortunately our photo was not on display at the launch party, as for some reason the gallery had thought it better to use images of the book’s other stars: Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, Britney Spears and Dita von Teese among others. Fools!
But you can see our picture here:
We’re wearing our amazing Pierrot dresses made by our friend Amechi, whose flat was the location for the shoot.
Our A/W 09-10 collection for Beyond the Valley is now in the shop and on ASOS, which can only mean one thing: SS 2010 is looming! For Spring/Summer we’ve been looking at a lot of 1930s beach pyjamas, and decided to create a wide-legged jumpsuit:
We love the graphic black and white print!
We were the models for the look-book shoot, and threw very strong, 1960s inspired poses to show off the jumpsuit’s flared legs:
We can’t wait to have our finished samples so we can start wearing them, although the weather might not be quite ready for jersey jumpsuits just yet… So instead we’re keeping ourselves busy designing our AW 10/11 collection. It’s really odd trying to imagine what we’ll want to wear in a year’s time!
Our friend Luka Marchant helped us feature in our very own Broken Hearts CGI shoot the other day! Look at the genius that can be created from toast and slot machines!
James Cameron eat your heart out! Thank you Luka!
We always love DJing for PPQ, so we were thrilled to be invited to play at a ‘pink dinner’ party they were throwing at the East Room. Obviously we needed some custom-made pink PPQ outfits for the occasion, so we hot-footed it over to their showroom for a fitting with the charming and completely unflappable Myumi, who didn’t bat an eyelid at being asked to make 2 matching dresses from scratch in one day:
The party itself was a lot of fun: we DJed during the cocktail hour, and then sat right down for a pink meal along with the lovely Jaime Winstone and Jodie Harsh who managed to host a 'design Jodie a dress' competition over dessert!
Everything was pink, from the delicious strawberry flavoured water…
…to the rare roast beef, beetroot shots, parma ham and plums and tiger prawns! Note the huge empty plate right in front of us. Who cares about M&Ms?! When we're divas we're going to stipulate pink foods only on our rider!
After the meal the party carried on upstairs, in a special Alpine chalet that had been built on top of the East Room roof. We drank mulled wine, and posed for pictures in the snow, and completely forgot we were in the middle of Shoreditch!
Speaking of which, we were also asked to go back to Switzerland to play at the lovely Club Bonsoir in Bern. We were very well prepared (or so we thought), having bought our very own Moon Boots for the occasion - apres-ski being the order of the day! Unfortunately no one in the airport seemed to recognise this need for practicality, and we got laughed and stared at regular intervals going through security.
Why DID people keep asking if we were Russian?!
But once we arrived it was all worth it! We found giant Swiss Army Knives (of course), and the Christmas market had just begun, what more could you ask for?!
The incredible Medieval clock tower that not only tells the time but also the alignment of the stars... Baffled by science?! We were.
Breakfast: mulled wine and waffles - check.
Lunch: fondue - check.
Dinner: steak tartare - check.
All our favourite foods! We can't wait to go back.
Finally we thought we'd let you know about a couple of events we have coming up that we'd love you to come along to. Firstly, next Thursday 10th December there's an instore party at Beyond the Valley that we'll be DJing at. As it's a special friends and family event, there's also 20% off all the items in the store, including our AW 09 range! DON'T MISS OUT!!
You can RSVP here.
And we're also hosting a Christmas party of our very own! It's a "Bah! Humbug!" anti-Christmas party, to be precise, and it'll be at the Hospital Club on Friday December 11th. We'll have a Petra Storrs designed photobooth with photos by WKWYDLN, Bourgeois and Maurice singing Christmas songs, striptease from Trixie Malicious, artwork by Rob Flowers and make up by Illamasqua! Don't miss it! Get your name on the list now! Send an email to RSVP@thehospitalclub.com to RSVP.
And don't forget that to keep up to date with us at all times you can follow us on Twitter.
Until next time!
