Broken Hearts Style Diary: Future Beauty Launch
Did someone say 'Japanese style'?!
We never like to miss an opportunity to dress to a theme, so we were pretty excited to choose our outfits for the launch of the Barbican's Future Beauty exhibition.
We definitely recommend a visit to this fantasic exhibition which showcases inspirational avant-garde Japanese fashion from the past 30 years. However our wardrobes are sadly lacking in outfits by Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake, so we had to get a little bit creative...
Here's what we came up with:
We wore headpieces that a friend brought back from a trip to the Far East for us; vintage silk kimonos from Beyond Retro; delicious black perspex Lips clutch bags from Lulu Guinness; and Vivienne Westwood for Melissa 3-Strap-Elevated plastic shoes.
This little ensemble was completed with the addition of impossibly delicate paper eyelashes from new brand Paperself. We wore their 'Peacock' and 'Peony' styles. Here's a close-up:
We're DJing at the Barbican's Beauty Party on Thursday October 21st, where there will also be make up demonstrations by Alex Box, nail art by Wah Nails and hair sculptures by Charlie Le Mindu. Fun times! Book your tickets here and come along!
We'd love to see you there!
